I have bin working with responsive layouts for a while and using grid takes things to a new level. Containers are more flexible than ever. Content can be positioned whit out using absolute positioning and so on.
Mixing grid and some content elements with flex works for me!

I understand Grid as layout-centric and 2D-capable; Flexbox as content-centric and flow-like.
Most designs are (at least formulated as) layout-centric, so Grid should be used. On the Mobile DEV webpage, the lower "Reaction" bar (the one showing like, comment and bookmark count) looks layout-centric to me; I should use Grid here. But I would probably reach for Flexbox, just because using it is easier and quicker 😇
Even the mobile page header with the sidemenu and profile button looks layout-centric. You may have to use a Grid nested in another, but to me it looks like you should only use Grid here.
Both examples were 1D, but to me Grid would be the right choice. Just because Grid is 2D-capable doesn't mean it's only for 2D.
On the other hand, the tag list below the title looks flowy and content-centric. You should use Flexbox for this (though it can also be achieved with Flow-layout and inline-block boxes).
I prefer pizza🍕and I always use flexbox for all my layouts after reading this article I think I should consider grid layouts.
