The story of an Android Developer with 4GB RAM [unedited & explicit]

Well that's me basically.

Though at present I develop on an upgraded machine with 8GB RAM, it hasn't been that long since I had the upgrade.

It's the story of that 4GB RAM that kept me moving really.

So until a year and a half back, I was running Android Studio on my Dell laptop that had only 4GB RAM, and needless to say, it was such a pain in the ass as Android Studio was/is known to be, and excuse my French, one big of a resource whore.
I remember during my early days of internship where I had to open Android Studio, Postman and also some few Firefox tabs all at the same time, which, as you can guess, made my machine go berserk to say the least. Me and my laptop still don't have good relationship because of those times. LOL.
But still, I did what I could. I had this little Samsung Tablet that I would use to open those Firefox tabs just to keep some resource free from the laptop. 4GB after all, isn't that much.
I developed in Windows back then.

On this quest to make Android Studio run faster, I tried many tricks like increasing the size of virtual memory it consumed (which is ironic), to disabling plugins et-cetera.

But Android Studio was never that merciful and well the updates were making things worse, and I starting looking for other alternatives.
I read it somewhere that Android Studio ran better in Linux, and I tried that. It definitely was efficient, at least way better than in the Windows. But I had never liked Linux that much personally, but I didn't have any option. I started developing in Linux, and well, I have never looked back ever since. (Except for that one time where I needed to use Photoshop, but that's a whole different story)

Anyway, shortly as I was getting used-to using Linux, I also upgraded to 8GB RAM on the same laptop. Things have been going smooth ever since, except for one or few times when my laptop has to deal with a really big project, in which case it just starts showing attitude like I ran away with some debt.
Dude, I just gave you an extra 8GB RAM for a change!

But that thing aside, Linux is just beautiful, and over time I have grown to sort of like it a lot.

There is just SO MUCH TO LEARN in it, which just fascinates me totally!

Thanks to that 4GB RAM.

And Android Studio ofcourse - just keep being a resource whore that you are!
