Vladimir Okhotnikov on cryptocurrency exchanges, DeFi, and the prospects of the crypto market

In a recent interview, cryptocurrency and blockchain expert Vladimir Okhotnikov provides a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in the crypto market and offers forecasts regarding its future development. Key aspects of cryptocurrency exchanges' operation, security, DeFi sector prospects, and general industry trends are examined.

Monetization models are undergoing changes — Vladimir Okhotnikov

Vladimir Okhotnikov explains that the main source of income for most crypto exchanges is the commission fees charged to traders for executing transactions. This practice is presented as a standard and transparent way of doing business, unrelated to deception.

However, the expert points out the existence of certain "gray areas," one of which is the listing of new tokens. Major exchanges may set high fees for listing cryptocurrencies, which, on one hand, provides liquidity for new projects but, on the other hand, serves as a significant source of profit for the trading platforms themselves.

At the same time, it is essential to evaluate the practice of attracting traders through the dissemination of trading signals with sobriety, according to Vladimir Okhotnikov; he calls it "evil." In his opinion, successful trading is an art that requires certain knowledge and skills, and blindly following signals will not lead to profitable results.

The expert believes that traders should first receive proper education before entrusting their funds to third-party analysts.

DEX Perspectives: The crypto market will transform by 2025

Discussing the prospects of decentralized exchanges (DEX), Vladimir is convinced that the future lies with them. Already today, major centralized platforms like Binance are preparing to transition to decentralized models by creating their own DEX solutions.

At the same time, the specialist notes a sharp decrease in trading volumes on decentralized exchanges in the third quarter of 2022, indicating certain difficulties in this sector.

According to Okhotnikov, DeFi at the current stage is a relatively safe segment of the crypto market. However, he emphasizes that this is only true if users strictly adhere to information security rules.

Furthermore, there is a forecast that in the long term, cryptocurrencies have the potential to become one of the primary forms of money in the global economy. However, as analysts note, significant efforts from the industry will be required to realize this scenario.

Overall, the interview covers a wide range of relevant topics, offering a balanced analysis of the current state of affairs in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sphere, as well as containing a series of well-founded forecasts regarding possible paths of its further evolution.
