Things always turn out in a funny way.
I sensed instability with the merge as soon as my old boss left, and I was considering leaving, myself, once I got back from vacation. There's just no predictability with such a merger and constant shuffling of employees. I have left the company starting Monday and am now searching for a new position.
Regardless, I march onward with the dev blog. I'll be working on my personal projects that I've been putting off, possibly also contributing more to the video game side project.
I'll keep you guys in the loop.

In Japanese, the word for "opportunity" is the same as for "crisis."
It doesn't compare to your situation, but at almost 40 years old, I'm starting to program in the midst of one of the worst personal crises I've ever had, not to mention the state of this country falling apart (Argentina). So, every change brings about good things. Good luck with your projects. I also know how important it is to sometimes read a comment and have someone read what one writes.
