Yup: for free, indefinitely and virtually with no limit. Upload and host images, link them to your article or online blog. Voilà!

I feel as if I've discovered a party millions of people are already having. It's good, but I didn't know anything about it. Now I just know that it's useful.

An awesome free image hosting service. Yup: postimage.org.

About Postimage

Postimage was founded in 2004 to provide message boards with an easy way to upload images for free. Postimage is a very simple, fast and reliable free image service. It's perfect for linking to auctions, message boards, blogs, and other websites. Postimage guarantees maximum uptime and performance so that your image will be here whenever you need it. There is no registration or login; all you have to do is submit your picture. With continuous upgrades and dedicated staff, Postimage is the #1 solution for Free Image Hosting.

Some highlights in no particular order:

  • No limits on the size of the uploaded image (up to 12Mb and 10k x 10k pixels). And they say your pictures are not going to be taken down due to inactivity.

  • Upload in batches of up to 1000 (one thousand!) images per batch (!!).

  • There is no limit to the number of images you can upload.

  • Images won't expire if they're not seen.

  • It works with and without creating an account. I recommend creating an account. Creating an account has its perks, as you have a 'gallery' of your posted images. You can also access the links to share the image.

As if this wasn't enough, after uploading an image you get copy/paste links to common actions:

There are many other perks. You can read about it in their FAQ

I wonder who is funding this. Does anyone know?

Have you heard about this service before? What can you tell us about it?

Random slug on every uploaded image link is a big downside.
