WTF? Google Cloud Platform has a Cloud Service that Uses ML to help you find a job. How more meta can you get?

You know me DEV, I'm AWS Obsessed. That doesn't mean I never use GCP or Azure. I was refreshing my GCP knowledge today and saw a service I never noticed before called Cloud Talent Solutions API

So I'm reading and it looks like it is just for companies to post, update and delete job postings en-masse. That kind of makes sense a Business Application that could be on a Cloud Service Provider.

I dig a bit into the documentation and now its tell me it does the opposite.

So now its telling me that its for job seekers, to use Machine Learning to help you search the internet for job.

So it's for job posters and job seekers

It also claims to do:

  • Spelling correction
  • company jargon recognition
  • job enrichment
  • and more.

This service from as far as I can tell doesn't have easy-to-use console. You have to write code to use this service.

This is a service that has been around since 2016 but I never noticed it before.

πŸ€” The future of job search?

I don't know what it says the fact that Google thought people needed this service. Is it so hard to find a job we need to use ML.

Is the future of job searching you spending 4-8 hours to identify jobs.

When you want to apply for a job will GCP create a Cloud Job Application API which will use ML learning, and you have to hyper tune your machine to outcome other candidates to get a job?

Should I make a video tutorial on how to use this thing? Is there any appetite to see what this thing can do?

Sounds pretty cool!

GCP in general is awesome. I wish it were free forever; I'm nearing the end of my free 12-month trial and have mainly been using it for the Drive APIs (e.g., Sheets).

Edit: Nope, apparently I still have 206 days to be a free-loader. Score!

Hi @andrewbrown , I'm playing around with this nodejs client, but despite I've tried many ways, I always get

Error: 7 PERMISSION_DENIED: The caller does not have permission
  ...
  code: 7,
details: 'The caller does not have permission',
  metadata: Metadata { internalRepr: Map {}, options: {} }
}

Resources I used:
cloud.google.com/talent-solution/j...
googleapis.dev/nodejs/talent/lates...

βœ… Service account connected.
βœ… Tested with both role admin and job editor.

Do you have any GOTCHAAAAA tip for me?

Update:
I've test with Google Drive API and it works perfectly.

Looks like it’s more for businesses to fine tune their job postings: cloud.google.com/solutions/talent-...

Yes Please Do It! ❀️

I will definitely watch this!!

I'm not sure giving even more personal information to Google is a great idea.

I never thought of it that way, maybe we are the product in this case πŸ™ƒ

I have a feeling this is more for job search sites or companies that offer their own careers page to improve their job search experience.

Looks like a lot of work for individuals.

Isn’t it awful instead of awesome? Google cloud knows so much and all information is available on sale?

It's not linked to the whole Job plateform that Google tried to make and that will closes in some weeks ? (Or month didn't followed much)

If they leave the API, it's at least a good news
