Be a better version of what you were yesterday

The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday. These wise words come from Matty Mullins.

When life throws challenges our way, what is our response? Do we succumb to negativity and pessimism? Do we drown ourselves in a sea of problems and misfortunes? This is a common response to the obstacles we encounter. Struggles and complications are inevitable companions on our life journey. We cannot avoid them, no matter how much we try to control or plan our lives.

Every day, we all face difficulties, be it at work or at home. These problems are an undeniable and complex part of our daily lives. However, we must confront them and leverage them as opportunities to grow and become better individuals with each passing day. I'd like to share two quotes that have had a profound impact on my life regarding facing challenges.

Henry Ford once stated, "Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than in trying to solve them." Problems are not the cause of a difficult and miserable life; for the most part, it's a matter of perspective. Often, people allow problems to defeat them due to feelings of anger, fear, and anxiety. These negative emotions paralyze individuals and hinder them from thinking of solutions and moving forward.

On the other hand, perspective is what sets apart those who succeed despite life's difficulties. Those who thrive know how to confront or manage complications when they arise. They do not let negative emotions hold them back; instead, they find solutions and take the next step.

Denis Waitley, in his famous quote, advises us, "Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer." You should invest your energy in moving forward and seeking answers rather than being paralyzed and depressed by life's problems. If you feel overwhelmed by adversity, take a deep breath, overcome the challenges, and move forward with determination towards success.

It's important to remember that we cannot stop the waves, but we can learn to surf them. In many situations, we cannot predict the magnitude of the problems, but we must be prepared to face them bravely, without hesitation or doubt. This doesn't mean we won't feel fear when confronting our realities; courage is not the absence of fear but the conviction that something is more important than fear. This doesn't make us inflexible; it makes us resilient individuals in the face of life's adversities.

Last but not least, the centerpiece of this message is: Rise! Begin anew each day, see the bright opportunities hidden in every dawn, and don't let problems knock you down. The secret to change lies in focusing all your energy on building something new, rather than fighting the old.

To advance in the race of life, we must first believe in our ability to do so. This is an indisputable fact: we are the only ones who can change the course of our lives; no one else can do it for us. The place is here, the time is now: Be a better version of what you were yesterday.
