Thoughts of a novice web developer.

Today is October 12th and I'm less than two months into learning frontend web development. I'm using ZeroToMastery's complete web developer course to learn everything I need to become a frontend developer. So far so good, I guess.

I've completed the HTML and CSS sections of the course, and instead of going straight into Javascript I decided to take two months to practice HTML and CSS before moving on. After watching Youtube videos and following along to complete web pages, and then recreating them again without help from the original video I started to feel like there was no progress happening.

I decided to search for others learning web development in Houston but there was no luck. I searched for meet-ups on the meetup app, but no luck for a Houston group. On Facebook I comment in a web developer group that I was in search of mentor but was told by multiple people that it's going to be hard to find mentors, especially people that would mentor for free. I made it clear that I'm willing to pay as long as the mentor has a proven track record with helping others learn, but still no luck. Eventually I ended up on codingcoach.io where I found my mentor, now I have more confidence that I'm actually on the path to become a developer.

Things learned since I've started on August 27, 2022:
HTML basics
CSS basics
Basic command line use (locally)
Git / Github

As of October 12th, my favorite code editor is Sublime Text.

Okay, not too far from me Wes. Are you new to the tech space?

Yeah. Still learning the skills I need for the first job. I made the mistake of trying to know everything there is to know about a topic before going on to another topic.
