What's New in AG Grid 27.1

AG Grid 27.1 builds upon the major improvements in AG Grid 27, focusing on quality and developer productivity in the grid, while adding significant new charting functionality - integrated combination charts.

As a minor version AG Grid 27.1 introduces no breaking changes from AG Grid 27 and upgrading is an easy way to improve the end-user and developer experience using AG Grid.

Please see the full list of changes, including breaking changes and deprecations in our changelog.

Integrated Combination Charts

As part of AG Grid 27, we've added combination charts to the built-in charting user experience. Users can now create charts using combination chart types - column & line, area & column, or a custom chart type combination, setting custom series types and plotting them on secondary axes, as shown below:

Also, the formatting for each series type can be modified separately to achieve a fully-customized chart appearance.

Users can save and restore combination chart configurations, allowing them to reuse charts they built before without having to recreate them from scratch.

Default Column Definition is now reactive

AG Grid v27.1 makes the default column definition reactive - any changes you make to it will take effect immediately, modifying the appearance and behavior of the grid. This allows you to easily configure grid columns via external UI, for example toggling column filtering, editing or sorting across all grid columns.

You can modify the default column definition via state or via the new API method added for this, as documented here.

Chart API Documentation update

The standalone chart includes an extensive API allowing you to customize all aspects of its appearance and behavior.

As part of AG Grid 27.1, we've rebuilt the chart API options and themes reference documentation to make it more readable and easier to follow the levels of nesting of the configuration objects for the settings to take effect.

You can see the updated chart API options reference and the chart themes API reference.

Summary

AG Grid 27.1 builds upon the major improvements in AG Grid 27, focusing on quality and developer productivity in the grid, together with a major charting upgrade including integrated combination charts.

As this is a minor version, upgrading to AG Grid 27.1 from AG Grid 27 should be straightforward and we recommend this upgrade for all users. Please see the full list of changes in our changelog.

As always, weโ€™re keen to help you upgrade and to hear your feedback.

Happy coding!
