How a meetup helped me find a job - a chat with Katie Fenn on the power of communities

In this time and age job security is a lie. So what can you do to help secure your position? Or to increase your chancing of finding your next job? The answer is easy: You need to improve your presence, your professional authority and your reputation. You need to boost your personal brand. And the easiest way to do it (especially as a career developer) is to leverage the power of communities. They are wonderful opportunities for networking and making connections and are often associated with events, like meetups and conferences. In turn, this can be a stepping stone for starting with public speaking.

In this video I'm having a chat with Katie Fenn. She is an awesome developer and on her CV you can encounter companies like Canonical (the publishers of Ubuntu) and Npm. She is also a strong believer in the power of communities and does a lot of public speaking. Katie is sharing with us all some of her experience as a corporate developer and some of her history with events, communities and public speaking. Enjoy!

I am working on bringing you new content and more interviews with great developers. So you might want to subscribe to the Front End Nexus YouTube channel to stay updated. Your support is highly appreciated.

Have a great and productive week, keep yourselves safe and I will see you next time!
