Sometime in the 1800s, people in poverty-ravaged Europe started migrating to the United States for better pay, living conditions and escape oppressive regimes. It’s estimated that more than 40 million people left Europe at the time to build the industrial revolution in America. In the world of work, international migration is a thing. Today a different kind of migration has started, one which isn’t exactly geographical. It’s a shift from on-site work to virtual workplaces. A migration driven once again by the desire for better pay, workplace conditions and freedom. While more companies especially tech companies are embracing this, no ecosystem has embraced it as much as the web3 ecosystem. The reason is not far-fetched because the core ethos of this ecosystem closely also aligns with the modern day desire to work from anywhere without boundaries. Web3 is the foundation of that world. It’s is the internet of the future.
An internet built on a permission-less, trust-less system that guarantee privacy, anonymity, border-less transactions and transparency.
Right now that world is being built, and if you are a software developer, you probably consider yourself as an architect or builder of some sort in relation to the internet and I agree with you. I agree with you buddy, and this is why I want you to be part of web3:
- The opportunity to get in first, @DannieOnyeka often argues in our LearnWeb3 Server that, “there are still too few people working on web3 solutions, we still need more” and he is totally right. It's a bit like when the need for software engineers started rising, a lot of people didn't know about it or weren't paying attention. Now everyone wants in on it, and the supply is crazy. Employers are picky. In web3, 80% of the community are noobies, some even with no prior programming experience. Everyone is still learning. There is no ceiling and the range of possibilities is endless. Often the more experienced folks reiterate that the most important skill in the space is case and this isn't far-fetched at all. Web3 as an ecosystem is barely 5 years old. It's still a baby, a virgin land of opportunities. It's a 'Gold Rush' for the daring, the curious, the innovative and if you have any of the aforementioned qualities, i have only question for you, Wyd bro?
A chance to build the new future, web3 is literally our generation's internet moment. Most of us where born when web1.0 came up and are now growing up using web2. Web3 aims to be a better internet. Building the new internet means taking responsibility for prior mistakes made in web2. Increased decentralization, data-privacy, no-censorship, creator ownership and consumer-first are some of the perks of the new internet being built. In a way, what we build in web3 will be our legacy. So now is the time to build a new kind of Facebook, a different kind of Amazon, a different kind of Google, if you are really passionate and idealistic about changing the way we use the internet.
Remuneration, one of the hot topics used for/against the web3 ecosystem is the amount of money being thrown about and at people to build stuffs, but it's not just money, employees also have more power and say in their work organizations because of the incentive and consensus model of DAOs (the new companies). This is a very important point; As you can now work on a product you are passionate about with an organization you care about, you can ensure that organization doesn't go left which early builders of startups often complain about when they blow up. In short, you will have a say! DAOs are the future and if an healthy, equal participation workplace environment where you are appreciated and rewarded generously for your efforts is what you are after, I don’t think there is a better place to be than web3! In the 1800s, it took 40 million people to build the western civilization we have now, today a virtual civilization is being built and its developers are not even up to 10 million yet. This article is yet another wake-up call for you, so what is it gonna take?
