You can:

• Find an emerging idea in other countries and try to import it.
• Find an emerging new technology and try to have usages
• Go to some startup's events and find people who have an idea but not the knowledge

• Search twitter with "i wish there was an app for"
• Make a list of what those apps are.
• Find what they have in common.

And go from there
