What's with the 🦄?

I have never met a drug addicted person who sees a unicorn. And I met a lot of them...

After researching the topic, I came to the following conclusion:
A developer who can pull off a job from A - Z is apparently called a "🦄 Developer".
So for me, a post that deserves a 🦄 is one that explains a problem perfectly from A to Z without creating new questions.

Lol I just got into Dev.to, and this is the first google result when I search "dev to unicorn" 🦄

I think that the Dev.to team just put that there because they wanted to leave an air of mystery and see what happens.

I mean ...t's just there sitting on the left bar of your screen ...tempted to be clicked on..so why not ?

Can anyone tell me exactly what unicorn reactions mean??
Because here all the answers are different from each other so i can't decide what exactly it is...
Just i want brief whether it is positive or negative vibes!

I always used it to mean extra ordinary content, something way better than a heart. Hear is a unicorn for you.

I think it means, great pure thoughts or ideas.

I google the meaning of Unicorn and I find this "something that is highly desirable but difficult to find or obtain."

Thanks for asking this! I'm new around here and went searching for an answer immediately: I wanted to make sure I was using it according to its intent.

But it seems like there is no dictated purpose, and people use them variously to mean "super dislike", "super like", and anything in-between or other. 😅

I think I'll avoid using it, and stick with ❤️for things I like, as I haven't yet found someone who interpreted it negatively. For all else, I'll respond with no reaction or a constructive comment; constructive comments seem better than "dislike" reactions. To me, anyways.

I always thought of it as marking something as "unique". Just because unicorns are basically a pretty radical animal hybrid.

I never use it.

The devs might misuse it as a popcorn, not a unicorn ;)
