nice article. But i seriously don't understand the entire point of a PWA. To me it sounds like a buzzword to describe a real-time SPA that downloads like a browser extension. Why not just author an extension or plugin directly. Or just wrap your PWA in electron, and make it standalone a standalone namespace. Could you please clarify some advantages to giving your browser file system access to install these remote pieces of code? Thank you.

I'm just as curious are you are with PWA which is why I'm learning it. I am making it installable because I want to have and interact with the web app as an app on my phone: the essence of PWA.

awwh, yes, maybe that is the difference. I only use my phone to make phone calls and check email. I didn't think of it within the mobile market. That is kinda smart way to do things i suspose :) thank you for explaining.

let me know what you think. im curious if this will allow me to be able to support more portable versions of my unity games.. maybe with a pwa tool or something. Thank you for getting me interested in learning more about these.

I'm not conversant with unity or gaming. But if your unity games are web based then you can provide a "native-mobile-applike-experince" by turning them into Progressive Web Apps. I hope that helps.
