Text and Apps

  1. What apps do you use that show text?
    A- The apps that I use are mostly mobile game and every game that I’ve played has used text.

  2. What apps do you enter text into by typing or dictating?
    A- The first apps that come to mind are social media apps.

  3. Do apps you use behave differently depending on what text you enter?
    A- Yes, all apps behave in their own way when entering text.

  4. What are some apps that show little, if any, text?
    A- Apps that may involve editing of some sort, the in-apps buttons have hidden labels.

  5. Is your experience with these apps different? If yes, how?
    A- Every app has its own functions so yes, all apps give a different experience.

  6. In designing an app, what are the benefits of showing text? What drawbacks might there be to showing or using text?
    A- The most important benefit is a clear understanding of the app, drawbacks are of course the opposite and may drive away users due to the confusion.

  7. Look at an app that uses mostly text. How could you change the app to replace or eliminate some or all of the text? What images or icons could you use?
    A- I believe that any app can associate a symbol to an action and after the users get used to seeing the symbol, they can just use it.

  8. Look at an app that uses little or no text. How could the use of text improve the user experience with the app?
    A- Even simple labels can make any app better for the user.
