In lieu of that there's one key thing that is easier to get from backend and DevOps things, metrics, let people know how consistently the platform is operating, how you have made it X cheaper by doing something.
Front ends are easy to compliment because they are the obvious thing you interact with, but a nice front end counts for nothing if the users don't get a good experience from the backend and infrastructure too, those things are much easier to quantify.
