Be clear what your brand stands for - what is your main message?
Make sure you have a point of (meaningful) difference
Remember to communicate emotional benefits as well as factual ones
If you're just starting out, focus on a winning a niche vs large audience - it's very hard to cut through to a large audience in the beginning, especially if budget is constrained
