Javascript: Its significance and future aspects

Javascript is the foundation stone of the frameworks we use today like React and Vue. We cannot imagine software development without the contribution of Javascript. Therefore, we are going to discuss Javascript and future aspects.

What is Javascript

Javascript, often abbreviated as JS, is a programming language that conforms to the ECMA specification. It is high-level, often just-in-time compiled, and multi-paradigm. It has curly-bracket syntax, dynamic typing, prototype-based object-orientation, and first-class functions.

Combined with HTML and JSS, it forms the backbone of the World Wide Web. It is the most preferred language for web development. JavaScript enables interactive web pages and is an essential part of web applications. The vast majority of websites use it for client-side page behavior, and all major web browsers have a dedicated JavaScript engine to execute it.

Advantages of Javascript

  1. Speed: Since Javascript is an interpreted language, it reduces the time required by other programming languages like Java for compilation. Along with this, it is a client-side script, meaning it can be run immediately within the client-side browser.

  2. Simplicity: Javascript is easy to learn and implement, saving developers a lot of money for developing dynamic content for the web.

  3. Popularity: Since all modern browsers support Javascript, it is present almost everywhere. It is used as a tool by many famous companies like Google, PayPal, etc.

  4. Interoperability: Javascript works flawlessly with other programming languages and can be used in a variety of applications.

  5. Rich Interfaces: It provides various interfaces to developers for creating catchy and elegant looking webpages. Drag and drop components or sliders may give a rich interface to the webpages.

Disadvantages of Javascript

  1. Client-side security: Since the code is executed on the user's computer, it can be used for unlawful purposes. These purposes may include using the source code without authentication. Also, it is very easy to place some code into the site that compromises the security of data over the website.

  2. Browser Support: Javascript is interpreted differently by different browsers. Hence, the code must be run on all the platforms before its publishing.

  3. Single Inheritence: Javascript supports only single inheritance and not multiple inheritances.

Future of Javascript

Javascript has become an integral part of the development community. We cannot imagine developing frameworks or webpages without Javascript, especially for the front end. With the increase in the popularity of frameworks like Vue and React, Javascript is destined to become famous and have a huge community base.

Therefore, it has become crucial for companies to hire people who have good coding as well as knowledge of Javascript
