A couple points from my perspective after reading through some discussion.

Having onboarding in place is a huge step and a lot of companies both large and small fall flat in this area. One thought I had was a "choose your own adventure" style onboard. Of course there should be 'mandatory' sections to the onboard, however, some people thrive in social situations and would love team outings. Some people fear that. If your process causes the new employee stress it's not going to have the desired effect.

Could it be done differently? Your 9 bulleted points are all great. Perhaps 4 would work for one and 4 different ones would work for another. I've never been asked how I learn best in an onboarding situation. How about, What helps you be your most productive?

Basically I'd like to see more flexibility in these processes.

Thoughts?
