Python also has other runtimes / implementations (JPython, IronPython, PyPy). Many other languages have multiple runtimes or implementations. Ruby has Topuz, jRuby, Rubinius, CRuby etc. It's not a big deal at all.

True but I still would argue that one official runtime would help the ecosystem become a bit cleaner.
