StackOverflow has additional data attached to tags, like description and icons. Dev.to can do similar, there is already custom color. I would say some small description (for top tags) and maybe art by some illustrator would be nice and pick different illustrators for different tags.

I've been told this is one of the ways to submit a feature request - blog post with #meta tag
