WP tips:

  1. Get familiar with WP Codex: codex.wordpress.org/.
  2. Learn all about child themes.
  3. Try starter templates. My favourite is underscores.me/.

General tips:

  1. Think about supported browsers.
  2. Think about accessibility.
  3. Break template into reusable partials.
  4. Avoid using frameworks, if possible.
