How Can I Prepare for a Coding Bootcamp?

Hey, DEV! Gonna start a coding bootcamp soon. I have a Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field, but I graduated around 8 years ago, so I've forgotten what it's like to be a student.

Are there any tips for excelling at a bootcamp for beginners? I feel like it's going to be overwhelming, so I want to do all that I can to get prepared for it.

Thanks, DEV!

Welcome to the world of technology! I also presented here at a bootcamp and some things I would tell myself are not just technical, but some soft skills that I needed:

  • Pay attention to the basic topics because they are going to be complex;
  • It's okay if you don't understand everything, because nobody knows everything;
  • Respect your learning process and pace;
  • Don't compare yourself to others;
  • Programming logic and computational thinking are paramount to know;
  • Create your schedule;
  • Consistency is the key. Try to stay grounded;
  • Don't hesitate to ask questions;
  • You will not learn everything at once;
  • Take breaks, you need to rest.
