Planck EZ Keyboard: Two minutes of Typing

Here's a quick video of me typing and showing off some of the features of my new keyboard, the Planck EZ 🎶. If you're interested in my layout, here's where you can get it. If you have any questions, or if you'd be interested in a more full post, let me know in the comments!

P.S. If you are looking to pick one up yourself, know that the factory takes a break for the lunar new year, so be prepared! And as a bonus, here's the keyboard plugged directly into my phone as I take notes in the car on dev.to!

Nice Planck! I am interested in buying one. Where did you get navy color keycaps?

I really don't get it: have you to do something like Shift+Letter to write a number?

Yes, planck has 3 default layers:
1) regular qwerty
2) lower layer with fn and symbols
3) upper layer with numbers and other symbols

You can also add your own layers

Yep! It's more configurable, but here are my lower, raise, and adjust layers in the config tool (there is a green outline around the pressed keys)

Ooh, thanks! I'm looking into getting a cool keycap myself, but I was toying with the idea of making my own resin keys in the style of dwarf factory. I would love space themed one with a nebula and the starship enterprise or something fun!

Artisan keycaps are nice but beware, once you visit r/mechanicalkeyboards, r/mechmarket and/or r/keycaps there's no turning back!

Interesting. What's the point of it? The keys seem to be a traditional qwerty keyboard from what I can see in the video. Never seen one of these before.

The main point for me was: I wanted a more ergonomic keyboard solution, but one I could take with me wherever I go. This keyboard is small, the keys are laid out physically to minimize hand motions, and its programmable with additional layers to further refine an ideal layout for your style (you can see my setup in the layout link)!

Nice another Planck programmer. I started with the Planck ez but moved to the official and swapped the caps a few times.

Very nice! The right angle USB-C adapter is a great idea, I'll have to grab one of those. 🔌

Oh yes I picked up a two pack on Amazon, 100% worth it. One for home and one for work.
