While I'm not sure if fast typing speed gives you much in programming, understanding your version control, being good in handling your command line are game-changers. Not to mention reading Pragmatic Programmer! To me, Code Complete was the life-changer book.
After that, I started to read professional books on a day-to-day basis and if I had to give one advice, it would be read, read and read. Books can give so many new ideas and so much applicable knowledge...
