I was DevOps in the financial industry more than 5 years ago (now I am more on the dev side). What I did like of this job was to think about the best system and network architecture to perfectly reply to a specific business need. Designing resilient and highly available architecture is not an easy job and needs you to go on the detail of lot of hidden things. Automating stuff is just the visible part from non DevOps. It's much more than just this :)

By the way, I like it so much that I decided to launch Qovery with a former colleague to help developers focus on what they love (coding) rather than the DevOps part.
