So what's your favourite code editor theme right now?
I'm currently working with VS Code, and I'm using GitHub Dark Default
, you can find it here. It's great, but I'm looking for something new 🧐

Material One Dark (Material) of Material Theme UI for IntellijIDEA :)
Exactly, Github Dark colour scheme
Right now, my current flavor of the month is codeSTACKr. I combine that with a blinking block cursor. Like I said, right now, it's my favorite theme. That could all change tomorrow.
I like that a lot @kurtissfrost really pops.
@j3ffjessie Me too. It was so hard to choose because VS Code has so many amazing themes. I especially love the blinking block cursor. It really makes it enjoyable to code when you have a theme installed that you enjoy.
I haven’t tried the blinking cursor setting. May have to configure that and give it a whirl.
@j3ffjessie It kind of gives off that terminal/hacker feel when you see it next your code lol
Gruvbox Dark, github.com/morhetz/gruvbox and here plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/12310...
I use it for everything over the years and still use it daily for editors and terminals. Love it.
Any theme that has dark bg!😆 I hate light bg theme...
I really don't get it. As a developer, do you actually spend time agonising over what theme to use? Do you actually care what theme others use? Do you feel the need to change it from time to time? If so, why?
I change theme when I am especially tired or near-close to burnout to give a stimulus to my focus.
For me, yeah. It's partly just fun, but I've gotten so I rely on syntax highlighting being high-contrast and skimmable. There are certain themes that really frustrate me.
I'm currently enjoying Mayukai Alucard with Mayukai Ayu icons, but i change theme quite often especially when I need to stimulate my focus.
here is the theme preview
I use JetBrains Mono NL SemiBold as the editor font, I'm not fond the jetbrains IDEs but the font is just so good.
Jumping on this thread: does anyone know the name of the theme that emacs uses in the green-on-black theme terminal on GNOME? It's silly, but I feel strongly this is the best one.
Reasons:
Comments should be in red. None of this dark-grey-on-black nonsense that Visual Studio seems to like. If I put a comment in, it is because I know the code isn't readable and I truly ran out of ways to make it readable. If I comment it's because there's information you absolutely need in order to understand the code. Comments should look like an angry schoolteacher's corrections in your code.
Green-on-black is so much easier to read than white-on-black for me. I love dark themes because I'm very sensitive to light, but every year or so when I need to get my glasses prescription change I really feel the astigmatism problem that white-on-black themes have.
I really like the PaperColor theme on VSCode and Vim. A light theme that’s easy on the eyes with a nice touch of color.
I like plastic, easy on the eyes which I also use on Slack
Ariake Dark
This is a pretty rare one, and I love it.

Currently using Tokyo Night Night
