What you are describing is similar to cognitive reframing. I myself am a pessimist and so I constantly have to work at reframing things in positive ways.
Also, favorite punk band? I've always loved Operation Ivy, Rancid and earlier Pennywise.
How long have you been at it for? Has it become intuitive for you?
Oh, me and Pennywise have had some fun together. Op Ivy and Rancid are classic.
For me, I'd go with Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Fugazi, Bouncing Souls, Descendents, and Lagwagon are always in my rotation. And if you really want to stretch the definition of punk, I'd say At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta, and Every Time I Die.
Intuitive, no. Since August or so? It's becoming easier and more reflexive at times but most of the time I still have to stop myself while in thought and exercise my will to be positive. Being mindful of my thoughts has made me more aware of the need to reframe though.
Rancid was probably one of my favorite concerts I've ever been to. Millencolin too were awesome. How could I not mention Lagwagon and Descendents!!! I also listen to them a lot. Still love throwing them on for my commute, I think I will do just that for this evening. ππ»
Oh man! I've been at this for over a decade. Definitely stick with it, it'll be very well worth it.
I put on my punk playlist too!
Thanks for the encouragement man I appreciate it!
Enjoyed some Lagwagon on the way home. π
Completely agree! I find that how I perceive others is also how I perceive myself. When I'm judging other people, then I'm also worrying about who's judging me. On the other hand, when I'm in "Live and Let Live" mode, then I'm less concerned about what others think.
Thanks for the tips. I really should give meditation a try!
Also check out Byron Katie's The Work specifically for this. There's a thought pattern you can integrate that helps a lot with empathy and that "live and let live" mentality.
Thanks for the recommendation -- I'll put it on the reading list now.
Only if you have security in mind. For every other concern this point is actually valid.
Well, and UX/UI.
