For me it was nearly the same experience. Not much that really helped but a few parts that expanded my horizon.

If you are looking for a book that gives advice on how to deal with so called legacy systems, than you should definetely read this: Working Effectively with Legacy Systems

Hopefully Uncle Bob reads most of the feedback because i think we are not alone with it!

Yes, Working Effectively with Legacy Code is an awesome book! It's not really an architecture book but it's with its weight in gold if you're working on a legacy system.

It's in my top 5 programming books of all time.
