It took me a while before I got to the point where it felt like a "managed career". In fact, I don't think it actually felt close to that until I started paying attention to my style of working, as in - what kind of work am I best at, small teams vs big teams, small companies vs big ones etc... It can take a while.
A lot of what I wrote here was learned after many iterations and mistakes, sharing in the hopes that others can skip a few steps :)
