This was a harder one. Not all weeks will have a win. Sometimes getting through the week is the win.
Mine is definitely getting @ThePracticalDev@mastodon.social up and running π
Oh hells yeah! I finally figured out how to join Mastodon, lol. It wasn't super intuitive to me at first, but I joined via Sunny Garden (a community for indie creators), and here I am - sunny.garden/@michaelmadcat.
My major win this week was pairing with a junior developer. They were stuck, so we started pairing. I went with the following script:
And then we began our pairing. My favorite moment was when we had working code, they said "To summarize what we did..." and they named the four things that we did (and where we adjusted) to resolve the issue.
Hoping in and being curious about their understanding of the problem was the secret sauce. They walked through the ticket, and explained it. When we were done I knew we both understood how we fixed it.
Oh wow! That is the perfect outcome. π
I also really like the script ya came up with for pairing with someone who needs help. I could apply that to my work too when helping out a teammate with community support.
Appreciate ya sharing!
I'm starting to learn how to record music.
It's way harder that I would like it to be but maybe with motivation this will work
OOOooooo yeah! So glad to hear this. You got a DAW (digital audio workstation) picked out? If not, I recommend Ableton Live β love that software!
Ah no not really. I've tried a bit of garage band and Presonus studio one but I'm far from mastering and if those tools. Will have a look
The driver's license and maaaaybe the diploma of Web Developer (yes, finally ! Miss judge approve my projects) π€©
Still working on Saturday
I don't have any particular win this week, but I want to share happiness!
I was finally able to join my first DEV's casual mod chat this week! π€©
Oh heck yeah!! It was so nice seeing ya there and getting to chat with ya in person, Ayu. Looking forward to seeing ya at future ones, but of course no pressure to make it every time! π
Started a course on data warehouse fundamentals in order to transition to data engineering.
Built a framework for Node.js
Honestly raking my yard was really exhausting but I'm so glad it's over. That's a big W for me!
Wait...a whole bunch of new leaves just fell. π€¦
Hahaha! Story of my life right now... π±
We have worked for our tool churnfree and improved the design of it! Have a look on the design of this site.
New job!
I'm not in the industry like you all since I'm still in high school, but I guess my wins of this week are that I was able to finish my SAT and the horrendous task of deploying the athletics website for my high school using flask.
Got a 100 strangers to see our shirts this week, just with PR with $0 spent on marketing.
