You can update an app that is already installed on a remote device without ever having to release a new build which requires a user to update their app.

That is sketchy AF. Seems like you're saying you can stealthily add functionality that the user didn't expect. Maybe the mobile platforms are smart enough to prevent apps from stealthily getting Internet access or location data access or whatever. I would assume that at least the user would be prompted, but none-the-less, the ability to hide your intentions from the app store does not fill me with confidence.

If its an Ionic App then yes, partly. Not sure about other frameworks, but Ionic App config allows for editing styles, colors, text etc without a user visiting there App store.

Any major changes i.e new permissions or native component access will require a user to download the latest from the App store. It would be a security issue if everything could be changed without users permission.

Apple would also slam you for it. App store policy allows incremental updates but anything major has to go by them
