I think the best option could be to have a bare metal system in a colocation data center like hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/e... and just ssh into it to make work, your client can be anything from a tablet or a really small computer like a raspberry pi.
The only downside is that you need to be online all the time. No way to work offline.
