I love that this post isn't about Mac vs Windows. Linux is a perfectly acceptable compromise to a Β£2k Mac.

Macs offer the benefits of a *nix system without the downsides of a Linux distro (less support, higher barrier to entry).

Arguably, Windows Subsystem for Linux probably empowers Windows with a lot of the things I want from a development environment so I don't need to change how I do things (which has a time implication).

Using a Macbook for over a decade now, probably easier to stick with one than relearn how to tool a system to best work for me. I just wish it was more powerful than my current one, where the fans go mad just connecting to a video meeting (or the laptop dies altogether).
