But, but, but, what's going on? Two articles in one day? And yes, after the presentation of the challenge, here is the presentation of the project I'm going to do this week.
For a first application, I'll start simply. I'm going to create a Pomodoro application.
Well, it's a time management technique. This method is based on the use of a timer to respect 25 minutes periods called pomodori. These different work periods are separated by short breaks. The main claim of the method is that regular breaks promote intellectual agility. Some benefits of rest periods on memory consolidation can be observed experimentally.
The technique is presented in the form of five steps:
- deciding what task to perform,
- set the pomodoro (timer) to 25 minutes,
- work on the task until the timer rings and record it as done,
- take a short break (5 minutes),
- every four pomodori take a slightly longer break (15-20 minutes).
For the simple reason that I've been working on this technique since the start of the 2019 school year (September) and it works pretty well. The problem is that I don't necessarily find what I want on the internet. So the goal is to create an application that I like and that I will be able to use every day.
For me, the day was pretty productive. I started the day off very well with some inspiration research on Dribbble and Behance and then I started to make the mock-ups of the application on Figma.
In the early afternoon, the prototype looked like something but was no longer maintainable when I made modifications. The components I had created were no longer useful to me, even though the very principle of a component is to make the prototype uniform. So I started from scratch, while keeping the same base and the same spirit. Now everything is correct to my opinion. You can already see the prototype of the application by following this link: https://www.figma.com/file/7MBbHUrDzn8J7hwQI5DpvC/PomStat
PS: The design may change a little bit more. If you have any suggestions, feel free to send them to me as comments or on my Discord server.
