I wish WordPress developers would stop criticizing Gutenberg. Most people that do, don't even know what they're talking about.
You're a specialist, correct me if I'm wrong.
Gutenberg is a big step forward bringing WordPress to the current standards of modern programming. It integrates React into WordPress, making everything in the content, a block (a component). That means we will be able to get the content through API and use WordPress as a back-end provider, being able to consume the content in JSON and use it in any modern frontend JS framework, in any platform.
WordPress needs to bolden up, it needs to keep up with modern technology. WordPress developers are harming themselves by sticking with procedural code. I think that Gutenberg is a solid step to the future, but people like to criticize everything they don't understand.

You can already use WordPress as just an api
