Efficient Pixel Art Editor

leviathanprogramming profile image 𝐋𝐄𝑽𝐈𝑨𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 Programming ・1 min read

Hey guys! I've made a pixel art editor on Repl.it for you all to use. Mainly, it is for processing.js / P5.js development (It might work in Phaser.js as well), but once you've finished making an artwork, you can even download it in .png format.

If you don't know how to use it, go to this post on repl.it to read the instructions on it.

Thanks for reading.
Be sure to share this with your game developer buddies!
Happy Pixel-Arting & Coding.

Thanks. It is easy figure out to use.

The layout of color bar can definitely be improved to show more at once. Use the empty parts of the screen and make rectangle of colors.

So you want me to compact the colors together a little tighter?

Yes something like the hexagon layout here so you don't have to scroll horizontally

w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker...

Or as a rectangle.

I tried that but it didn't really work. I'm updating the pixel art editor to have an expanded palette.

For interest, this retro library is 16 bit and has 16 colors only

github.com/kitao/pyxel#color-palette

Maybe you can make a few 16 bit color palettes that are themed, so one gets to pick colors from the lumo one or the pastel one or the fiery one.

Or maybe make a 32 bit and 128 bit etc option.

GIFs traditionally had 256 colors o think

That's actually a pretty good idea. When I have time, I'll think about adding about 256 different colors.

Okay, I added a bunch more colors. I don't think I'll add anymore in the future.
