For the benefit of others who relate to this comment, I completely sympathize with it. However, instead of focusing on the artificial class conflict between Authors and consumers/pirates, I suggest focusing on advocating for reforms like a social safety net. Whatever "social safety net" means to you, working toward it will be a better use of your time than yelling at pirates. And it will help far more people.

Also, for the love of God: set up a Venmo or Kofi or Patreon or anything. Promote the fact that people can pay you directly and cut out the middleman. Suggest recurring payments while you're at it!

I already have. That didn't help. I have gotten nothing on any of my Patron accounts.

By the way, most of my content is self-published.

Get off your high horse. Until you've walked a mile in my moccasins, you don't have the right to an opinion on this topic. Based on your own cited credentials, you are merely a disgruntled, entitled consumer.

...it will be a better use of your time than yelling at pirates.

But thanks for admitting to being a pirate. At least that clarifies the illegitimacy of your own rant.
