My advice: donโ€™t do it, run away!
No seriously, go for it and take it step by step.
My first advice based on 25 years in software development: technology is cool, but before adopting a technology or writing a piece of software, first think of what your customer needs. We technology driven software developers tend to over complicate things by our addiction to โ€˜new stuffโ€™.

We are in the same boat. I think you might be better than me. I am just learning on my own and never went to school for this. Please let me have the few ideas that you have and so I can learn too.

Have a mini project in mind, choose which programming language you want to build that project on and learn the aspects that are required to build that project. You will learn by building. Good luck!
