I disagree that one should expect a registrar to supply a cert. Many hosting options also supply free certs using Let's Encrypt (or other CA options). I have used Google Domains and Namecheap for their clean UX, but neither of them supply certs. Hosting a site on Netlify makes this a non-issue.
