Hey guys,
My name is Jake Varness, and I'm a Software Engineer!
I've spent the last few years trying to be a polyglot of sorts, but I have spent a lot of my professional experience developing in C#, Java, and JavaScript.
I currently work as a Team Lead and Software Engineer at Cerner Corporation, where I primarily develop software used by clinical and inpatient pharmacists around the world.
Before that I worked for Service-Link developing electronic meter-reading software for utility companies across the US and Canada.
Currently, outside of my normal day-to-day at Cerner, I have been trying to learn a mixture of things here and there: Angular, TypeScript, React, Dart, Go, etc. I'm also trying to figure out what the best way is for me to contribute back to the FLOSS community... If you have some projects that you need work done on lemme know and I might sling some PRs your way!

Hey! I've noticed that in this post you use "guys" as a reference to the entire community, which is not made up of only guys but a variety of community members.
I'm running an experiment and hope you'll participate. Would you consider changing "guys" to a more inclusive term? If you're open to that, please let me know when you've changed it and I'll delete this comment.

Thanks for your post. I appreciate your efforts to make DEV an inclusive community!
I would prefer not to change my original post because "guys" is a term I frequently use in my day-to-day and has been for quite some time.
However, I can understand how "guys" isn't as inclusive of a term as some of the alternatives, so I will keep your advice in mind going forward when I write future blogs.
