I actually think that quote goes both ways, for men and women. Mostly comes from workers that just started working or are just in social shy to ask for help. And then you have some other types of attitudes of people who just won't ask because they don't want to appear dumb and their ego takes over..
That was my thought exactly. I work pretty hard to ask as little questions as possible. Asking questions is important, but my thought is it is hard to know what's a question you can solve yourself verse one you can't.
I would say it's the exceptional person who isn't afraid to ask questions, regardless of gender / sex.
