What are your best tips for getting a first developer job?

Whether fresh out of college, as an autodidact or in a professional reconversion, getting your first job is tough.

We all have heard that infuriating piece of feedback

"We like your profile but you don't have enough experience so we can't hire you so that you get the experience you need to get hired".

If you were a junior recently, how did you escape this trap?

If you have tips for juniors, what would they be?

My recommendation is to contribute to open source projects and gain experience that way. If possible find a company that has open source projects and contribute there.

You need to maximize both of these to help you become the best developer you can be. There are three good ways to make sure that you’re on a fast track to starting your developer career.
