I was really excited for WSL and really tried to make it work.
One insurmountable issue I ran into was corporate controlled anti-virus rules. These made doing almost anything in WSL really sloooow. Git checkouts, apt updates, npm anything.
That said I recently switched to Mac at work (they won't let us use Linux) and am for the most part happy. I'd never pay for a Mac myself but since the company is footing the bill... :)
I hope you post a followup in 3-6 months and let us know how things are going...
Yeah, I avoid antivirus all together.. other than Windows Defender. Everything works smooth so far.
If someone buys me a Mac, i'm not gonna say no. I would definitely give it a go. I think it's good to be familiar with all possible work environments. Even if you don't use the regularly.
Will do a follow up for sure.. or a I switched back to Linux.. time will tell. I'm happy for now.
