Programming student aimed at Machine Learning and Artist since 2019, the guest for the first interview is Nyshimori Mizuki, name he is known in the VTuber community with his lives being focused on art.
Following is our conversation.
As a developer what do you think of these AI's?
I think they are a revolution, AI's in general are doing impressive wonders and about artistic AI's, I find it even more intriguing, because I saw them slowly appearing since 2019.
What are the most common arguments you saw against or in favor of AI's? Do you agree with any?
Arguments in favor were very few, since I was immerse in the world of artists, but what I saw and agree is that they can help the creative process and democratize the art, while arguments against were something like "they are going to steal our art" and "they will replace us”
This first argument against, I disagree almost completely, because with everything I know this "theft" is rare. The second argument is more complex, I thought it came from fear and ignorance and I convinced myself that it could be valid, but today I found proof that it’s fake.
And what would be this proof?
Before I was thinking exclusively in the commission market, and it’s a market that can easily be affected by them since it is informal and the work is done from one person to another, but I was forgetting that there are other art markets that could go through AI's almost untouched.
Give me some example of a market that would not be affected or benefited
Arts in buildings, vehicles and tattoo are the strongest example. Although it is difficult to think of a printer large enough to paint a building, and the tattoo is something done on the skin, I don't know how a computer could compete against a artist human in that case.
Earlier you said something about art theft, in your opinion how can we protect ourselves from having our art stolen? Like Raiden Shogun’s case.
Well, from what I saw in that case there was nothing to be done (as a developer) to prevent this, in this case a person took the art in creating process of an artist and used the NovelAI to finish it, without the original artist publishing it; it was an impossible situation to prevent with code.
Raiden's case was just an example because it’s the most recent, and in my opinion it’s about ethics, but taking it out of the scene think of the general picture
In the case of "theft" by AI, I think it's a rare thing and depends on the quality of the database, but that's one of the problems I have an idea on how to fix.
And what would this idea be?
Usually AI's artists are GAN's (Generative Adversary Network), I think adding a network with the function of judging if the art produced is too similar to any already in the database, this is a hypothetical solution, but I want to test it.
Do you think using an AI means that this art is no longer yours?
It depends on how much I use her as a base, if I use it as a mere reference, the art is as mine just like one I didn't use it.
And when the art is 100% made by an AI?
Then is her art and I'm just publishing it.
What is the future of AI's in your opinion? How do you think they will evolve?
I don’t think they will evolve at the same pace we saw this year, the principle of Pareto says that "80% of the results comes from 20% of the causes", and even if they are recent, thanks to this principle, the improvements may be almost imperceptible, I also think they will be very useful when we learn to use them correctly.
Do you think they need any regulations by law? An organ to monitor them?
I thought it would be interesting to have laws before I realize that they could stagnate, so I have to think and research more about this…
Do you think it is fair to use AI at an event, as in the case of the Théâtre d'Opéra Spatial?
It doesn't seem bad to me, it seems more like a product advertisement and any brand will want to stay in the market.

I think there is an exaggerated fear about AI's inside and outside the field of artists that is invalid. There’s a phrase from Simon Bolivar I found very interesting "ignorant people are the instrument of their own destruction" and that tells me that it is no good to have a fear because you lack the knowledge of something, especially when we are talking about AI's, they can be a excellent tool in the future.
