Get a free domain name for your projects.

Okay, so here's how you can get a free ccTLD Domain name.

( Warning : Only use these domains for your personal use, don't build a business website or something that gets lots of traffic or attention. Read the comments for more info)

First go to - freenom.com. There on the search bar search for the domain name you want, with the free domain extension you want.

You can get .tk (Tokelau), .ml (Mali), .ga(Gabon), .cf(Central African Republic), .gq(Equatorial Guinea) domains for free.

So just enter your domain name like for example - mydomian.tk, see if its available, if it is then proceed to check out.

Create a freenom account using your real email id and complete the order.

If you are getting any sort of error then you are probably not from the united states, so just download a free VPN, connect to USA.

Clear Freenom.com cache and cookies and try the steps again. That's it.

Now if you still need any help then follow this guide.

Just a warning, freenom isn't very reliable, they just dismissed my domain & listed it as a premium domain on their website without any warning / information . So I lost access to my domain & now anyone else can pay a few dollars and get access to my domain and publish whatever they want.
So I recommend just to use it temporary & not treat it as permanent.

There is always a price to pay for free. This won't be an issue when you are just getting started. But once you have a name and traffic, these kind of issues popup. I can just assume so many security issues popping up.

Thanks for sharing your experience. And sorry you had to go through it.

While I absolutely understand the appeal of a free domain (especially with the cost of everything going up nowadays), I would caution people from taking domains from other countries if it makes it difficult for those countries to access their own domains because those of us who don’t live there have taken them especially if they’re common like, I don’t know, government.tk or something. We have to remember how the ways in which we consume tech (and the digital world) affect others.

Chances are that the common names are already registered, so i don't think this is something that concerns the countries providing these domains.

Yea that’s a fair point and a definite possibility

Hello Aomi, I tried the website out. But sadly this doesn't work for any domain name for free 🤔. It just shows that it's not available be it too complex or unique doesn't matter. Even I checked those domain names on internet and no websites have them so not having them does gives the clue that it's fake somewhere 🤷.

Edit: This worked for me just the hack was search directly by .tk or ml like that. Otherwise it shows not available. I did the exact same this and it worked.

Yeah, you need to enter the .tk or any other extension at the end for it to work.

You can also used github.io link because now it is more helpful for developers to make your website on this website.

Freenom randomly markes your domain as "fraud" (even if it isn't)
