WHO CAN GET THE GLOBAL TALENT VISA IN 2022?

Global Talent is a unique type of visa that makes it possible for digital tech talents to reside, work and run their own business in the United Kingdom without any restrictions or an offer from a British employer. To obtain this type of visa, a candidate doesn’t need to provide a diploma of higher education nor a language certificate.

Tech Nation – the official Home Office endorsing body – is trusted to assess applications from digital tech professionals and endorse candidates. A candidate has to meet three of Tech Nation’s criteria:

  • one mandatory
  • two out of four optional

Mandatory:

  • Recognition of the applicant as a (potential) leader in the IT industry

Two optional criteria from the following list:

  • Significant contribution to the industry
  • Innovation
  • Recognition for the work outside of immediate occupation
  • Academic contribution

Tech Nation accepts applications from software engineers, founders, investors, UX/UI designers and other candidates working for a product-led digital company in any IT sector. All professionals can be divided into two groups depending on their specialisation — technical and non-technical (business).

Below are examples of those technical and business specialists eligible for the Global Talent Visa in digital technology.

  • DevOps and SysOps engineer
  • Software engineer / software developer
  • Data scientist
  • AI, NLP, ML expert
  • Cyber security expert
  • Hardware engineer
  • Front-end / back-end developer
  • OS engineer
  • Video game developer
  • UX / UI / Product designer
  • Mobile application developer
  • VR developer
  • Solutions architect

EXAMPLES OF BUSINESS OCCUPATIONS:

  • CEO and other C-level positions
  • Сommercial / business lead
  • VC investor / founder
  • UX / UI researcher
  • Project / product manager
  • Senior VC / PE analysts (with track records of leading investments in digital businesses)
  • SaaS or enterprise sales leadership (with a contribution to product development)

Technical candidates should demonstrate their relevant experience in the field of working with or creating the latest technologies, as well as using or operating digital products. Non-technical (business) candidates must prove their experience in creating digital products or investing in recognised product-led digital companies.
