Everyone should not learn programming, it should purely be of personal will. Feel free to try it out, and coding classes and stuff in school are cool. Though, it is not a required skill in real life if you are not working with software, and if a person does not have any interest in these things why do they need to learn? There's simply no point, they can better spend that time on exploring something they're more passionate about, etc.

I agree. No harm in trying, but saying that you should know about programming is not the way to go, in my humble opinion.
