What do devs need to know about marketing?

Hey there, my name is Garrett and I have over a decade of experience doing internet marketing. Mostly SEO, content, and Email.

I’ll go more in depth I another post, but right now I want to tell you that I’m tired of marketing.

I’ve decided to change careers and learn to code.

But before I go, I want to share the decade of marketing knowledge I’ve built up.

I’m sure as I learn to code, many of you will reach out to help me learn. I want to do the same for you.

So I’m reaching out now and asking: what do you need to know about marketing?

What are you curious about?

Don’t know what you don’t know? What are your goals? I can tell you what you need to do.

The more questions you ask, or the more info you give me about what you want to accomplish, the better I can help you.

Don’t worry about the timeline. I’ll answer for another decade if it helps you out.

Here’s some SEO I did on YouTube vids:

Hey Garret,
I'll certainly have some questions further down the line as I launch my new game, but for now if you need any help with programming just let me kow, I'm more than happy to help! 🙂

Oh! I love this topic. What resources would you recommend for someone trying to learn about marketing? What are your favorite SEO tools? What mediums do you think are most effective for marketing?

Each one of your questions is big enough to deserve their own posts, so I’m working on them!

Hey Garret! Thanks so much for this. I've got a lot of questions, but I'll start with only a few for now. What is the best way to drive traffic to your site? I did notice that blogging seems to help a lot out of all the things I've tried.

second question, I'm cheap when it comes to buying things on the web especially when I feel like it's a skill I can teach myself. Is it unrealistic to expect to get traffic without spending money?

The short answer to both your questions is that everything in internet marketing comes down to time or money.

Everything is going to take time, but you can throw money at it and it will speed up.

I’ll write a full post to elaborate.
