Thanks Ben. A colleague of mine actually mentioned they tried to do daily standups via slack and they struggled due to not having a set time for doing it.
The current downside of daily email standups is some manual oversight is required to make sure everyone gets into the habit of sending them. It took a while to get into that habit. What helped though was merely replying to the daily standup emails. People became more keen to write good ones when the replies and questions started flowing in.
